Krueck + Sexton was challenged to reimagine and refresh the image of the common area of The Franklin, a Chicago loop high rise office towercompleted in the 1990’s. This block–long lobby connects two towers totaling over 2.5 million square feet of office space. The goal of the makeover was to retain existing tenants, attract new tenants and ultimately enhance the long term value of the asset for Tishman Speyer, the building's owner and operator.
This was accomplished through the use of glass, light, and transparency which serve to both contrast against and complement the existing lobby detailing. The building entrances were carefully constructed to better connect people, both visually and physically, within the lobby to the surrounding streetscape. These entrances establish a unique street presence through the use of double height illuminated portals.
