860-880 Lake Shore Drive

Chicago, IL | 2009

Our award–winning restoration of 860–880 Lake Shore Drive honors this pair of buildings designed by architect Mies van der Rohe as of the most important and influential buildings of the 20th century. Located in Chicago, overlooking Lake Michigan, these extraordinary buildings were the first realization by Mies of his vision for a glass and steel skyscraper, and quickly became a paradigm for high–rise architecture.

Krueck+Sexton was selected to undertake a holistic analysis and phased restoration of these landmark towers, which included localized repair of curtain wall, a final layers of paint coating of the facades, restoration of the lobby level storefront and restoration of the travertine plaza.
